Distinguished in her career in social work and emotional learning, Kenya M. Mills has excelled as a social worker for schools via Invo HealthCare since 2019. In addition, since 2020, she has been the founder and financial literacy agent of Mills Brand Financial. By blending her work in both fields, Ms. Mills is proud to have provided resources to students, families, school administration and the community at large to influence change and growth on a wider scale.
Ms. Mills earned an associate degree in liberal arts from Mount San Antonio College in 1998 and a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts and psychology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2013. She also attained a certificate in grant writing and budgeting for grant writing from Forsyth Technical Community College in 2014. Prior to her current roles, Ms. Mills was an alternative family living host with Lutheran Family Services in the Carolinas in 2013. Between 2007 and 2013, she worked as an assistant manager and manager in waiting at Lady Foot Locker, assistant manager at Citi Trends, sales associate with the Cato Corporation and produce manager at Dollar General.
Ms. Mills believes that her perseverance and drive brought her to where she is today. She cites her children served as the driving force behind her career decisions, as saw that they needed advocacy, services and resources that they did not have. Being an advocate for her children led her to be in a profession that ensures a climate of healthy diversity in the work and school environments. In five years’ time, Ms. Mills envisions herself the West Coast Brand Ambassador for a unisex shoe company and The Credit Restoration Guru in her city.
